Is World War III Inevitable?: Can the ‘President of Peace’ Avert it?

With many talks of wars and rumors of wars, how close are we to embarking upon World War III?

The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán stated in an interview regarding the assassination attempt of President Donald J. Trump, “Thank God that he (Trump) did not allow himself to be killed. I hope that this means that God has plans with the President, and what other plan could God have in such warlike times than someone bringing peace at last, and he was the president of peace” (The Economic Times, 2024, 0:28).

At the Republican National Committee (RNC) President Donald J. Trump stated during his acceptance speech, “I was the first President in modern times to start no new wars. Under President Bush, Russia invaded Georgia. Under President Obama, Russia took Crimea. Under the current administration, Russia is after all of Ukraine. Under President Trump, Russia took nothing” (The Economic Times, 2024, 6:06).

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán makes a point that politicians that are pro-peace are increasingly being targeted and that the number of assassination attempts is growing. Prime Minister Orbán went on to say that because of their Christian values, it is their duty to reduce the number of those killed and that peace ultimately brings more economic opportunities for the people (The Economic Times, 2024, 2:10), as mentioned in the following video.

Prime Minister Orbán said that, “Former US President Donald Trump and Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico were both attacked for their ‘anti-war views’” (The Economic Times, 2024, 1:04). Fico was hit by four bullets in an assassination attempt in mid-May while Trump, the Republican party’s nominee for presidential vote survived a July 13 shooting. Both Fico and Trump are allies of Orbán and “all of these attacks are against anti-war, pro-peace politicians,” Orbán said in an interview with a state-owned Kossuth radio station. “Pro-war forces are so stirred up, tense, abetted and organized that they are trying to clean out the pro-peace forces from the stage, from the centre of political life,” Orban declared (The Economic Times, 2024, 1:14).

Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico, whom recently survived an assassination attempt condemns the acts of political violence that both he and President Trump experienced and attributes it to their political opponents incitement of public anger towards them resulting individuals to retaliate in violence (Silenská, 2024).

Silenská quoted Prime Minister Fico, “It is a carbon copy scenario. Political opponents of Donald Trump are trying to imprison him, and when they don’t succeed, they enrage the public so much that some poor bugger picks up a gun” (2024).

Meanwhile, Russia warns the world of World War III and that its war with Ukraine will not be limited to Europe. Russia said the west is ‘playing with fire’ by considering to allow Ukraine to use Western missiles against Russia (Reuters, 2024).

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Putin has warned often that the war could expand to include the nuclear superpowers in the world. Putin’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov confided in reporters from Moscow saying, “We are now confirming once again that playing with fire – and they are like small children playing with matches – is a very dangerous thing for grown-up uncles and aunts who are entrusted with nuclear weapons in one or another Western country” (Reuters, 2024).

Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, declares they have a nuclear doctrine, and they are making adjustments to their doctrine of using nuclear weapons among other things (Reuters, 2024), as seen below.

Former British counter-terrorism chief Colonel Richard Kemp has issued a clear-cut warning that the wars involving Israel, Ukraine, and Russia could mount into World War III (Hughes, 2024).

Currently, Israel is preparing for an Iranian attack after Iran announced that it will carry out an attack. Since this announcement, Tel Aviv citizens are staying home, keeping close to shelters, and only venturing out if they have to (Hughes, 2024).

Israel is at war on seven fronts and Colonel Kemp believes that the war can escalate to a broader regional war, even to a global war and that this is already happening.

Colonel Kemp discloses, "What we are talking about is a possible 'Modern World War III' and in some ways, it's happening now in Russia, where the US, the UK, other Ukrainian allies, are not necessarily directly involved with troops on the ground, but they're certainly involved with supplying advanced munitions. And I think what happens, how the West reacts here and also in Ukraine, is being very carefully watched by China. And if there's more signs of weakness, I think we've already shown quite a lot of weakness in our responses in both theatres, then that might give China the kind of green light to go and have a go [at] Taiwan” (Hughes, 2024).

War is escalating and threats of the war spreading regionally is heightened due to Hezbollah attacking Israel with a series of rockets and drones as seen in the footage

beneath.

As tensions rise among the nuclear powers of the world, there remains the claim that President Donald J. Trump is the ‘President of Peace’. The fact remains that while he was in office, no new wars occurred, and Russia was among the countries that did nothing while President Trump was in office.

“History shows very plainly that evil only respects one thing, unyielding strength. When I’m back in the White House, our enemies will know if you spill a drop of American blood, we will spill a gallon of yours” President Donald J. Trump (Trump, 2024).
